Grade Mar M247 bar and rod is a nickel-based superalloy used in high-performance applications, mainly in gas turbines. The chemical composition of the alloy consists of nickel, about 60–70%; chromium, 14–16%; cobalt, 8–10%; molybdenum, 3–4%; tungsten, 2–3%; aluminum, 3–4%; and titanium, 0.5–1.5%. It also contains trace elements like carbon, silicon, manganese, and boron. Its mechanical properties include high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and oxidation resistance, which makes it suitable for extreme conditions. Yield strength ranges from 100–150 ksi (690–1035 MPa), tensile strength about 150–210 ksi (1035–1450 MPa), and a high fatigue strength.

Yes, Grade Mar M247 bar can be welded using appropriate welding techniques like gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) or laser welding, but preheating and post-weld heat treatment are often recommended.
Yes, for welding Gr Mar M247 Bar, typically used consumables include Inconel 625, Inconel 718, or similar high-nickel alloys to ensure compatibility with its high-temperature and corrosion-resistant properties.
Grade Mar M247, primarily used for turbine blades, is generally resistant to galvanic corrosion due to its high alloy content. However, galvanic corrosion risk can arise when coupled with dissimilar metals.
Due to the high creep resistance and thermal stability provided, Grade Mar M247 bars and rods are used in many high-temperature and high-stress applications. They are widely used in the aerospace industry for the production of turbine blades, jet engine components, and structural parts exposed to extreme conditions. They are also used in the energy sector in the application for gas turbines and heat exchangers. These Mar M247 rods are ideal in industrial applications in the production of high-performance molds, dies, and fasteners. Their properties make them withstand oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures, making them invaluable for application in environments that require durability and reliability.
